Lesson 1

What is a school?

Learn that a school is a place where children learn and grow together, say why we go to school, name what we learn, and describe how it feels to belong to a school.

Lesson 2

Places in our school

Name and describe places in a school (classroom, playground, library, office, toilets, hall, garden, canteen), say what happens in each, and use a simple school map to find them.

Lesson 3

People who work at school

Name people who work at school (teachers, head teacher, office staff, cleaners, cooks, guards, librarians, nurses, drivers), say what each does, and thank them.

Lesson 4

School routines

Describe a typical school day (arrive, assembly, lessons, break, lunch, home time), use a timetable picture, follow the bell or signal, and explain why routines help.

Lesson 5

Classroom rules

Learn what rules are, why we have classroom rules (to keep us safe, fair and ready to learn), help the class to make rules in positive words, and explain what happens when a rule is not followed.

Lesson 6

Responsibilities of learners

Learn what a learner’s responsibilities are (come on time, bring what I need, listen, try my best, be kind, keep my things tidy), connect rights to responsibilities in simple terms, and plan how to keep them.

Lesson 7

Sharing and cooperation

Practise sharing and cooperating at school: sharing materials, taking turns, working in pairs, helping, and praising teamwork, and understand that cooperation helps the whole class.

Lesson 8

Resolving disagreements

Learn a simple, calm way to solve a small disagreement (stop, breathe, say how I feel, listen, think of ideas, choose a fair one), practise with role-play, and know when to get an adult.

Lesson 9

Caring for school property

Learn why school property belongs to everyone, how to look after desks, books, toilets, playgrounds and plants, tell an adult about damage, and understand that careful use saves money for other needs.

Lesson 10

Improving our school

Learn that learners can help to make school better, notice a small problem, suggest a safe idea, vote fairly, and take simple action with adult help (for example a litter patrol or a garden).
