Child Safety and Privacy

How Courseversity protects children and teenagers who learn here.

In short: children can learn here without an account. Under-13s cannot register on their own. Teenagers get personal study tools only. Group features are for verified adults.

Learning without an account

Lessons, the glossary and practice questions can be used without signing up.

Children under 13

Children under 13 cannot create their own account. A parent or guardian can add a family child profile, which uses a first name only and no other personal details.

Teenagers aged 13 to 17

  • They can use their own study planner, tasks and progress.
  • They cannot be found, invited or messaged by adults, and they cannot join study groups or share files.

Adults and study groups

Connections and private study groups are limited to adults whose email address is verified. Groups are invite-only, are not public, and cannot be found by people outside them. There is no private messaging and no public profile.

Safety tools

  • Members can block people and report content or a person. Reports go to a moderation queue.
  • Uploaded files are limited to a short list of file types and are scanned for malware before anyone can open them.
  • Members can leave a group or delete their account at any time.

What we cannot guarantee

Age is declared by the person signing up, so we cannot be certain of anyone’s age. Please supervise younger children online, and tell us if something is wrong.

Parents: your choices

To ask us to see, correct or delete information about your child, or to report a safety concern, use the contact page and choose the privacy or child-safety topic.
