Privacy and Cookies

What information Courseversity collects, why, and the choices you have.

In short: you can read lessons, use the glossary and try practice questions without an account. If you make an account we keep the details needed to run it. We do not sell personal information and we do not show advertising.

What we collect

If you only browse

Our server records standard technical information when a page is requested, such as the page, date and your browser type. We use a privacy-focused analytics tool that runs on our own website to count visits and see which pages are useful.

If you make an account

  • Your name, email address and password. The password is stored in protected form.
  • Your role (learner, parent or teacher) and age group, which you tell us.
  • Your learning activity: progress, quiz results, points, streaks, saved glossary words and review data from the Learning Lab.
  • What you put in your Study Dashboard: plans, tasks and notes. These are private to you unless you choose to share an item with a study group.
  • If you use study groups: your connections, group posts, files you choose to upload, and reports you make or that are made about you.

If a parent adds a child

A family child profile uses a first name only. We do not ask for a child’s surname, address or photo. See Child safety and privacy.

If you write to us or report a problem

We keep your message and the email address you gave so we can reply and fix the problem. Searches with no result in the glossary are counted anonymously, without your identity.

How we use it

  • To run your account, save your progress and show you what to study next.
  • To send emails you need, such as email confirmation and password reset, and a study summary only if you switch it on. Every summary email has a stop link.
  • To keep the community safe, including scanning uploaded files for malware and reviewing reports.
  • To improve lessons and fix errors.

Cookies and similar storage

  • Essential cookies keep you signed in and protect forms. These are needed for accounts to work.
  • Your browser may store small preferences and practice progress on your own device.
  • Our cookie notice lets you accept or decline cookies that are not essential.
  • Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google to fetch them.

Who can see your information

We do not sell it. It is processed on our web host’s servers and by our email delivery service so the site can work. Group posts are visible to the members of that group. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect someone’s safety.

Keeping and deleting it

You can delete your account. Deleting it removes your personal study data. Posts you made in a group stay for the group but show “Former member”. To ask for a copy of your information, a correction or deletion, use the contact page.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights over your personal information, such as access, correction and deletion. Contact us and we will respond.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and its date.
